Beatrice, Cecilia, Chiara, Davide, Davis, Diana, Diego, Elisa, Giorgia, Nikola e Zoeli here are the young protagonists of the Bootcamp, with different ages, skills and backgrounds. Under the guidance of Massimo Barbierato and Emilio Antinori they investigated and experimented with the “art” of creative reuse, through the analysis and visualization of processes, materials, data and energy in the production of the iconic no. 14 chair by Gebrüder Thonet Vienna
A week-long challenge which, through 5 different working groups, saw the birth of innovative projects and perspectives: paper made from sawdust, walking sticks, tiles and wall coverings. The location of the campus was the perfect setting for an experimental design laboratory: the Casale delle Noci, an out of the ordinary space and private residence restored by Gae Aulenti, immersed in the Tolentino countryside, within the park of Franco Moschini’s estate.
Less & more, less waste, less volume, less energy, more communication, more value, more knowledge. The keywords that characterize the Bootcamp teaching approach were experience, complexity and sustainability.
We proposed to the Bootcamp participants to give new life to production waste. Not through a new product, but through new processes of experimentation on the material in order to generate new design horizons.
DESIGN STORIES IN A BRIDGING MOOD
The Bootcamp also gave space to moments of meeting and interaction with people with valuable experiences. The participants were thus able to listen to the stories of design professionals such as Spalvieri & Del Ciotto, Martino Gamper, Lorenzo Scodeller and Zoe Romano.
The result was an enlightening comparison between the different perspectives and practices of design, which interpret and face the challenges of sustainability.
